CDF has a strong partnership with the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and has piloted school-based health outreach and enrollment approaches that have resulted in identifying thousands of uninsured children in school districts by adding a question about health insurance on student enrollment forms. In 2010, a partnership between the Texas Association of School Administrators, CDF and the Houston Independent School District led outreach efforts that resulted in the identification of 17,000 students in one school year. The project has since expanded into nine additional school districts in Texas, reaching more than 435,000 children to date.
Nationwide recognition has allowed CDF and AASA to partner with a growing number of school districts throughout the United States. In California, we have partnered with the El Monte Union High School District and the Mt. View School District and most recently, have welcomed two additional school districts: the El Rancho Unified School District and the Lynwood Unified School District.
